Ophthalmologist specialised in oculoplastic surgery in Valencia

Dr. Sonia Peñarrocha

Hello, I am Dr Sonia Peñarrocha, an ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic surgery in Valencia, a subspecialty focused on the treatment of eyelid, lacrimal (tear duct), and orbital conditions, as well as the functional and aesthetic improvement of the eye area.

I graduated in Medicine from the University of Valencia, where I was awarded an Extraordinary Award (Best Academic Record in Medicine), and subsequently completed a four-year training programme in Ophthalmology.

After completing my residency, I undertook a Master’s degree in Advanced Aesthetic and Laser Techniques, followed by a prestigious two-year fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, where I refined my expertise in the management of conditions affecting the tissues surrounding the eyes.

I currently work at Clínica RBE, Vithas Consuelo Hospital and Hospital 9 de Octubre, while also pursuing my doctoral thesis on blepharoplasty.

This recognition marked a very significant moment in my academic and professional life, because this award represents much more than an academic recognition; it is the reflection of the years of study, the hours dedicated and the unconditional support I have received from my teachers, friends and, of course, my family. I owe a large part of this achievement to them, because they have been my inspiration and my support at all times.

If I had to highlight a defining moment in my professional career, it would undoubtedly be the two years I spent completing my fellowship in London.

During this time, I further specialised in oculoplastic surgery within the field of ophthalmology. I was fortunate to undertake this training at one of the most prestigious ophthalmic centres in Europe: Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
